Master Gardener Presents: Maximizing the Mild Months: Planting and Protecting the Arizona Winter Garden

Join Georgia Lord Library's Master Gardener Terri Kelly at noon. Presentations will be timely for the season covering topics from vegetable gardens, to landscape watering, to desert adapted plantings and everything in between. This month: While the rest of the country is putting their gardens to sleep, Goodyear and Zone 9b are entering our second major growing season! Learn how to capitalize on this prime autumn window to get cold-hardy root crops, sweet greens, and brassica transplants established. This session covers the crucial November irrigation shift from summer schedules, how to gather frost protection supplies before stores sell out, why you must hold off on pruning tender plants, and how heavy mulching and pest monitoring will keep your winter garden thriving. Master Gardeners provide outreach and education to our community. And they help bring science-based information on plants, gardens and landscapes to the public.
